The musicians in each of the venues with a rare exception were very good and enjoyable to listen to. The stage shows were a bit strange but entertaining enough to give passengers something to do. Many passengers didn’t realize there were food options outside in this area since the food was tucked away behind the bar! Only La Cucina and Le Bistro have truly dedicated spaces that aren’t mixed with other eateries. The ship features two pools in the main pool area and four hot tubs, as well as a large selection of sun loungers both around the pool and on an upper deck overlooking the pool. With room for up to five, you'll have a sitting area, two lower beds that convert into a queen-size bed, a pull down bed and a convertible sofa. Despite the smaller size of the Sun, there are quite a few activities including an outdoor sports court, shuffleboard, and a full ship jogging track. For the healthier version of cruise passengers (rare, I know), there is a full-size gym that is remarkably well-equipped, and a separate aerobics studio with scheduled classes. The studio is free to use for yoga, stretching, HIIT, etc at your own leisure when classes aren’t being taught.

As mentioned, Norwegian Sun isn’t that large and is, in fact, even smaller than its sister ship, Norwegian Star. The NCL Sun ship was christened traditionally at PortMiami on November 17, 2001, in a dual ceremony - together with the fleetmate NCL Star. Sun ship's godmother was "Miss America 2001" Angela Baraquio (Asian-American). The liner is of the Sky-class NCL vessels, with sisterships NCL Sky and Costa Victoria.

The ship was sailing along the Alaskan coast when it collided with an iceberg off the Hubbard Glacier. The boat has 12 decks, of which 9 are passenger-accessible and 8 with cabins.

There are no water parks, slides, or really designated child-friendly areas making the journeys feel more “adult” than other ships. There are also far fewer passengers trying to ‘break even on the drink package’ making the overall feel of the ship calmer and less of a party vibe. The suite decor is more modern than the general stateroom decor. You’ll still find the off-white walls, shiny wood paneling and can lights, but you’ll also get darker, brown, gray and gold color palettes, for an overall more elegant feel. It offers everything you might need to keep you entertained during sea days, but not so much that everything is overwhelming. And, because Norwegian refurbished the ship from top to bottom just a few years ago, everything is modern and sleek.
The free options are more limited than other NCL Cruise ships simply due to the size of the vessel. Chances are the recently refurbished Norwegian Sun can take you there with cruises into the frozen wilderness of Alaska or exotic, immersive experiences with our Extraordinary Journeys. SF has a whirlpool bathtub, and SG is a modified balcony cabin for disabled guests (both types with private balconies and 2 lower beds /convertible).

She was constructed at the Lloyd Werft shipyard in Bremerhaven, Germany. A teen space is offered in the Entourage teen center, for cruisers ages 13 to 17. The center offers lots of programming, but also plenty of amenities that are going to appeal to kids of that age, such as video games.
