Initially we were told the deposit was refundable. However I am happy to report that Dolly and Highland Homes refunded our earnest money deposit after they sold the Prosper home we were going to buy. Now that they are selling the home to another buyer and a higher price, we just want our deposit returned that is rightfully owed to us. We have explained all of this to the sales rep of Highland Homes in Prosper, and she has continued to refuse to return the money.
I hope that this will reach others before they build. They said maybe your son put a toy down it. I am acknowledging the Artesia sales team of Highland Homes for good service recovery. I previously expressed dissatisfaction with Dolly and Highland Homes because our earnest money deposit was not returned when my husband and I decided not to purchase a home.

A plumber found loads of drywall shoved down in the tub drain. Of course this company offered no apology for anything. Really upset that company isn’t responsible for installation of A/C unit. How could we prevent the pipes rubbing together due to vibration of the machine causing a hole to leak out coolant. My husband and I have called this house the Money Pit. Due to a significant slow down in the market, our home took longer to solidify a contract and our contingency expired. When we did finally get a contract on our home, the Highland Home we were previously contracted for was still available for purchase.

I have addressed several issues currently of the built with drywall left with holes and covered up with molding which has been done without the flooring placed. Damaged kitchen cabinets, rotten & cracked wood placed where the faucets go. This will become problematic with all the rain we get in Florida. Tiles installed without covering the tub where debris is left that will cause drain issues. Why would you lie to a customer and murder their dream? Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I'd have to back out on my dream house, which I'd invested so much time, money, and energy. With my current lease expiring in a few days, and no home, I am without another option and I have nowhere to go. I am very very dissatisfied with highland homes.
